Salary: Band 10, £45,948 - £50,109

Location: Agile, Etal Lane Police Station and homeworking

Contract Type - Permanent, 37 hours per week, any flexible working requests will be considered

The Role

Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Force Coordination and Operations Department as an ANPR Technical Manager.

The ANPR Technical Manager will provide expertise to enable the Force to maximise the benefits of ANPR technology to protect the public and prevent and detect crime.

They will be responsible for the management and development of ANPR infrastructure collaborating with Digital Policing Leads and external partners to ensure the provision of a fully integrated, efficient, and effective ANPR Service compliant with National ANPR Standards for Policing and Law Enforcement.

They will provide technical leadership, line management and mentoring to ANPR technician and internal consultancy across the force providing specialist knowledge, tactical and technical advice to support the delivery of force priorities and ANPR Strategy.

What you'll do

  • Oversee the identification and diagnosis of camera system faults and complex technical issues and identify solutions and the required repairs and resolution to ensure optimal system performance and ANPR coverage and availability is achieved and maintained at all times.
  • Design and support the installation of bespoke innovative ANPR solutions for fixed sites and mobile units across the Force undertaking relevant site surveys and risk assessments ensuring configuration to National Standards, developing solutions to support the requirements of specific police operations and departments across the force as well as providing advice and assistance at a Force, Regional and National level as required.
  • Collaborate, engage and build positive effective relationships with internal and external partners and agencies to ensure support for ANPR development and maximise operational effectiveness. •
  • Manage and monitor ANPR budgets in accordance with Force financial procedures, creating the technical specification and functional design to support the procurement process ensuring value for money and innovative solutions for the Force are achieved.
  • Maintain up to date understanding of local and national changes impacting on force ANPR systems and service delivery and influence, lead and manage the implementation of required changes.

What you'll bring

  • Knowledge on the architecture, configuration and use of Microsoft, Linux, Android and specialised operating systems within fixed environments, server environments as well as external and mobile data-based systems.
  • Knowledge around the administration, management, and use of ANPR systems, including installation, maintenance and technical developments and software procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships at all levels.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Passion and drive for continuous development, demonstrating a strong public service ethos.

Terms of appointment

This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
