This role is only open to applicants that currently work within an NHS Trust within the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (HIOW ICS).
The Rota Manager in anaesthetics is responsible for the construction and pro-active management of the anaesthetic rota on the Basingstoke and Winchester sites including covering rota gaps, doctor leave management, also providing a first point of contact for the doctors.
This will involve close liaison with key stakeholders, understanding the demands and complexities of each service in order to support the provision of cost-efficient rotas. The post holder will play a pivotal role in ensuring appropriate internal locum cover.
Main duties of the job
- To manage the anaesthetic rota, working with the speciality co-ordinators to ensure all lists are adequately staffed and locums are booked when required, in line with Trust Policies and Procedures.
- To be able to problem solve on the anaesthetic rotas across both sites in the events of leave/sickness and assist with ensuring the appropriate lists/on calls are covered.
- To ensure the effective management and development of all staff, including ensuring that all staff members have an annual appraisal and development review.
- Escalating concerns and issues to the Deputy OSM, Operational Service Manager and relevant Clinical Lead.
- Recording and monitoring of annual leave, study leave and sickness absences for the consultants, staff grade and trainee doctors, ensuring that the Trust policies are adhered to consistently and that return-to-work interviews are conducted.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The role involves design, review and construction of the anaesthetic rotas which are intricate and complex and therefore will spend a lot of time using display screen equipment. The post holder will be expected to use their own initiative in all areas and will be responsible for the management of the anaesthetic speciality co-ordinators.

- Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of CLWRota or another anaesthetic rostering system
- Working knowledge of rota management
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office systems
- Experience of managing a busy administrative workload, with conflicting priorities
- Experience of establishing efficient office systems and processes
- Aware of Trust policies and how to apply HR policies
- Understanding of recent developments within the NHS and how these affect medical staffing
Desirable criteria
- Experience within NHS
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity of Locum's Nest
- Knowledge of Junior Doctor's contract and updated rota compliance
Skills & Ability

- Good verbal and written communication skills including excellent telephone manner
