About the Recruitment Process

The recruitment process for this role will be a two stage process. The first interview will be over Teams with our Head of Airport Operations and Service, and a Senior Operations Manager, to discuss your skills and motivation in applying for the role. If you are successful, the second stage will be an in person interview, where you will meet other members of the Operations team and have a competency based interview.

What you'll be doing

Key duties include:

    • Operational management and coordination with internal and external partners to deliver airport operations end-to-end
      • Work with operational stakeholders to challenge performance and ensure service level agreements are met.
      • Track all operational performance through metrics, addressing areas of risk using the Edinburgh Decision Model.
      • Airport threat assessor working in conjunction with Police Scotland and where relevant airline threat assessor, responding to threats to aircraft or airport infrastructure.
      • Liaison between business areas and multiple stakeholders to support in project delivery.
      • During periods of disruption, the Airport Operations Manager will fulfil the role of Silver Commander for the airport , leading our business response.
      • Line management of the Airport Operations Co-ordinators.
    • Ensure that post incident activities are completed to capture lessons-learned, including the completion of wash-ups, debriefs, and event reports to ensure learning is implemented effectively.

The Airport Operations Manager is responsible for providing the operational framework and delivery of procedures, guidance, advice, and leadership for Edinburgh Airport, for all passengers and employees by:

    • Responsible for the Airport operation, delivering a safe, compliant, punctual and efficient performance whilst maximising customer welfare and revenue (or minimising loss).
    • Managing the operation to plan, putting safety first when reducing delay and improving flow across the end to end passenger journey.
    • Identify deviations to the plan and find solutions, ensuring the plan is adapted and implemented.
    • Ability to build effective and influential relationships with our stakeholders and external parties including regulatory bodies.
    • Reporting, analysing, and collating data that can be used to inform operational efficiency, either locally or strategically.
    • Driving continuous learning and improvement of responses to unexpected events by acting on lessons learned and identifying opportunities to improve own team performance.

What we're looking for

To apply for this role, you'll nee d :

    • This role requires the successful candidate to obtain a Counter Terrorist Check, so you must have been living in the UK for the last 3 consecutive years
    • Exemplary inter-per sonal and communication skills, Exemplary self-organisation skills, including ability to: self-direct, shape business priorities and lead through situational ambiguity.
    • Excellent team-worker with the ability to work constructively in and between different teams, and to lead/motivate others (including ability to chal lenge and change behaviours).
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with impact and influence at a senior level.
    • Ability to filter information, see the bigger picture and determine where to focus.
    • Ability to understand Operational data and lea rn systems; logic driven problem solving
    • Deep understanding of Airport operations to include a minimum of 3 years' experience in both operations and continuity/contingency planning within Aviation .

The following items are nice to have, but are not essential for the role:

    • Degree level qualification in aviation or a relevant discipline.
    • Experience in incident management.
