AI Product Development Manager
Office Locations: Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Bolton, Southport, Newcastle, Reading, Birmingham, Northampton, and Cambridge
Hybrid working available - with the flexibility to work from home and collaborate in-office when needed. We believe we offer our colleagues the best hybrid and flexible working practices, balancing working from home with time collaborating and socialising with colleagues in our modern offices.
The existing AI team is distributed across London, Manchester, Liverpool, Cambridge, and Bristol. We typically meet in person three to five days per month in offices in either Manchester or Liverpool.
Fletchers Group have a fantastic opportunity to join our growing Team.
We're looking for an Associate Product Manager to join the AI team at Fletchers to support the internal development and delivery of AI tools into the business, and to help take these to the wider industry. The existing team is small but growing, so this person will have a range of responsibilities with the potential to grow the role over time. You'll be working alongside our existing Product team but with your own sub-projects and components to develop and deliver. In the near-term, you will be focussed on planning, designing, managing, and driving the deployment of our core tools into the business; ensuring they work effectively, refining the technical elements, and working with the relevant front-line teams of lawyers and nurses to make sure they deliver on our business objectives and improve our performance.
In addition, you will support the 'discovery' element of product development for individual components of our toolkit, by working with senior stakeholders, front-line users, and the technical team to build and test proof of concept (PoC) for the next wave of products. With guidance from the Product team, your role will span the entire product lifecycle: from process analysis and ideation, through the technical and UI design, to delivery, training, & implementation. You'll also help with our external agenda: demoing to customers, delivering training, and taking feedback into the Product roadmap.
This is primarily a business focused role; however, it will be important to have a strong grasp of the technical aspects of the products we are building (and to have a sense of what AI can do in the industry). This is also likely to be more important as AI tools for prototyping and software development improve. The role will require strong communication skills to work effectively with our legal colleagues and front-line users, and to guide our data science and engineering teams in their development work. You will also need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, to make sense of complex and unstructured data relating to our processes and product trials, and to be able to calculate the financial value these products could have for our business and the wider industry. You will then be responsible for driving the adoption, feedback collection, and improvement of our tools, which will require a hands-on change management effort and face-to-face collaboration with our colleagues and end users - so excellent communication is key.
We think the ideal candidate will be self-driven and good at getting things done, have strong problem-solving skills, be able to communicate effectively with a broad range of people, and like coming up with innovative solutions to business problems. They will be happy challenging existing processes and the status quo, and enthusiastic about the change technology can bring to people's lives. Since we're a small team with a big vision, they will also need to be a self-starter, and have a strong sense of ownership over the work they do. It would be desirable but not essential to have experience of working in a consultancy environment, working in collaboration with clients to meet their needs, solving technical problems, and managing stakeholder relationships.
In return Fletchers offers:
- 35 hours working week
- Bonus scheme (subject to targets being met)
- 35 days holiday a year including bank holidays and Christmas Closure, you also have an option to purchase up to 3 extra days' holiday per year, until you long service award the 3 days after your 5th, 7th, and 9th full year of employment

Requirements for the role:
- 2:1 or above in a Bachelor's degree or higher, in a STEM-related subject,
- Professional experience, in a role where you can demonstrate stakeholder management & working through others (for example: product management, consultancy)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills,
- Excellent written and spoken communication, especially in explaining technical systems to non-technical teams
- Familiarity with and passion for ML and AI technologies, including business applications and strategy
- Confidence in self-driven data analysis & problem solving to understand problems without close direction
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity: with experience in doing things for the first time, defining standard practice as you go, and pivoting quickly based on experience
- Evidence of leading and delivering change in people-based processes, including effective management of relationships with stakeholders and with people at all levels in an organisation
- Willingness to travel to Manchester or Liverpool for whole-team meetings and to spend time side-by-side with our internal teams and end users (nurses, solicitors, call centre agents) who are spread across our offices in Southport, Manchester, Liverpool, & Leeds
- UK based and full rights to work in the UK
- Fluency in English
- Desirable would be to have some experience in coding or software design, or working with or adjacent to a software development team (although this would be secondary to the change management and people-process management parts of the role). Additionally, experience using coding agents to bridge the gap between idea and prototype would be valuable.
We reserve the right to close this role before the date specified depending on the calibre and volume of candidates.
About Fletchers Group
Fletchers is a fast-growing, dynamic law firm specialising in personal injury and clinical negligence law, with outstanding rankings in both The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. Following several strategic acquisitions, we've evolved into the Fletchers Group, with ambitious plans for continued growth and innovation. Fletchers was one of the first consumer law firms to deploy a machine learning tool for legal work (a decision support system for screening incoming cases, launched in 2017) and was one of, or the first, law firm to have a dedicated AI department, which started in August 2023. Since then, we have been experimenting with a broader range of ML techniques, extending those tools already in use, and productionising new ones through our growing data science & engineering teams. We aspire to be the best place to work in the legal sector.
We believe that we are well positioned to leverage Fletchers' unique legal-medical dataset and industry expertise to build AI tools that will shape the future of consumer law. We are well funded through our Private Equity backers, which allows us to invest heavily in the development of sector-specific AI tools that assist, automate, and augment our specialist legal work. Tools we have built range from simple behind-the-scenes custom models, to agentic-AI pipelines for 'always on' monitoring, to the core user interface that some of our colleagues work on for 90%+ of their day. We're also commercialising these tools so that other specialist law firms can leverage Fletchers legal and AI expertise, and have an ambitious agenda for external growth for the next 18 months.
Since we're a relatively small team, whoever joins us in this role will have ample opportunity to influence the team, in both the direction of all our projects, as well as the development of the team, the work culture and dynamic.
Our workplace culture is inclusive, informal, and supportive, with a strong focus on colleague wellbeing and happiness. We are proud to offer some of the best hybrid and flexible working arrangements in the industry - because we understand that balance drives performance.
We reward those who help build our success and live our values. Our benefits package is designed to grow with you, offering real opportunities to share in our long-term strength. Our base pay and bonus structure is built to recognise and reward high performance.
Join us and be part of a law firm that's not only growing, but redefining what it means to work in legal services.
Fletchers Group is an inclusive employer with a diverse workforce: we welcome applications from any and all backgrounds. We're committed to providing a culture and environment where everyone can thrive, understanding and celebrating that no colleague is the same.
