Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Coordinator

About the roleWe are delighted to be recruiting this new role within our Ethics & Sustainability team reporting into the Agriculture Manager. In this position you will support the smooth running of the agriculture, aquaculture & fisheries team. You will coordinate and organise supply chain engagement and events, aligning with the wider Ethics & Sustainability and Waitrose Commercial teams.

  • Expected Salary - £28,400 - £32,700 per annum (dependent on experience)

  • Contract type - This position is a Permanent contract

  • Working pattern/flexible working - We know flexible working is important to you, and it is important to us too. The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business. The team typically 3 days per week working at home with the other 2 days in Bracknell head office (includes Wednesdays) or on supplier visits if required.  

  • Location - This role is based at our Bracknell Head Office campus. Please note, any cost incurred as a result of travel to the office is the responsibility of the appointed candidate. There is no travel allowance for this role. There is also a responsibility to visit our John Lewis branches / Suppliers / Trade Shows when necessary. You will be able to claim travel expenses for these journeys

  • Please note: Internally this role is known as Agriculture, Aquaculture & Fisheries Administrator

Key responsibilities 

  • Organise quarterly meetings for our livestock, fish and fresh produce steering groups. You will attend these meetings and take minutes.

  • Organise and facilitate supplier-based engagement, including supply chain engagement field visits and other events such as an agri conference. 

  • Interpret a significant amount of data collation that is required to report against our commitments and targets

  • Liaise with stakeholders to make sure our targets and objectives are on track.

  • Support response to NGO, media & other external stakeholders concerning farming and fishing supply chains. 

 

Essential skills/experience you’ll need 

  • Keen interest in farming, fishing & the wider ethics & sustainability agenda 

  • Experience working in or with agriculture, aquaculture or fishing supply chains 

  • Solid IT, Data Management and Reporting skills 

  • Good organisational, prioritisation and project management skills 

  • Good written and verbal communication 

Desirable skills/experience you may have

  • Qualification, expertise or industry experience in sustainable sourcing, animal welfare, regenerative agriculture, marine management 

  • Experience of working in a retail or FMCG environment
