Job Title: Advanced Product Quality Planning Lead

Salary: £53,340 + depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Support the development and implementation of the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) governance and assurance framework
- Lead the design and delivery of APQP training solutions for pilot project teams, including monthly awareness drop-in sessions
- Develop and expand the APQP facilitator network across business lines, ensuring suitably qualified and experienced individuals are in place to drive performance improvements
- Assist in the application of APQP within projects – starting with pilot initiatives, to enhance safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance, fostering a “Left Shift” mindset
- Contribute to the integration of APQP competencies within BAE’s evolving people management framework
- Drive continuous improvement of APQP processes and procedures through lessons learned and regular progress reviews
- Support the development of performance metrics to assess the maturity and effectiveness of APQP implementation in projects
- Provide assessor support for LCM Phase/Design Reviews across campaigns and projects
Your skills and experiences:
- Working knowledge of APQP tools and techniques (e.g. Design & Process FMEA, Key Characteristics, Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, MSA, SPC) with the ability to train others
- Good understanding of cross-functional disciplines, including project management, design engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality
- Recognised qualification in safety, quality, engineering, manufacturing, or supply chain, with practical knowledge of key systems and processes
- Broad understanding of industry standard APQP tools and techniques

The APQP Team:
The APQP team, within the Chief Technology and Information Office (CTIO), is responsible for the implementation and development of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) capabilities across BAE Systems. The team ensures a cross-functional approach to managing risk and aligning project planning with customer requirements and design specifications throughout the lifecycle of projects. This role includes supporting the creation of APQP guides, processes, and tools, and leading training interventions across UK and International businesses. Additionally, the APQP Lead will assist with stakeholder management and support the Head of APQP, including deputising for them when necessary. The position offers opportunities for involvement in pilot projects and significant engagement with senior stakeholders across various departments.
