About The Role
The Role
Adamson Jones has an excellent opportunity for a full time, self-motivated IP administration manager (patents), who wishes to further their career in a growing patent attorney practice. In this role, you will be managing a team of patent administrators, supported by the director responsible for patent administration, as well as handling patent administration work alongside your team.

Adamson Jones a part of Gateley, is a dedicated patent and trademark practice specialising in obtaining intellectual property rights for businesses and organisations in the UK, Europe and throughout the world. As well as obtaining IP protection rights, we also assist in managing and maximising the value of our clients' IP portfolios to achieve their wider commercial goals, whether this relates to exit, licensing, generating investment or other commercial opportunities.
We work with clients ranging in size from start-ups to multinationals, and innovative SMEs to world-renowned universities, and have a global network of overseas IP associates, whose clients we represent in the UK and Europe.

The Person
The successful candidate will need to be experienced in all aspects of patent administration, holding at least the CIPA certificate qualification and having at least ten years' experience as a patents administrator. Experience supervising and/or training other patent administrators, even if not in a line manager position, is also essential.
In this role, you will be expected to motivate, guide and support your team, and to supervise in respect of their duties and performance. A proactive approach and a commitment to high quality work is a necessity!
Duties will be wide-ranging within this role and will include:
- Managing a team of trademarks administrators, including supervising the duties and performance of the team, ensuring completion of tasks, and overseeing work quality
- Training of new members of your team, supporting the professional development of your team, including conducting appraisals, and liaising with the directors and HR as appropriate
- Work with the director responsible for trademarks administration in relation to implementation of new systems, procedures and policies relevant to your team
- Processing and docketing incoming correspondence in our case management system, ensuring that deadlines and other data are accurately entered, and tasks are appropriately delegated to colleagues
- Creation of new cases, maintaining client records, and quality control tasks to ensure that the case management system is accurate at all times
- Liaising with both fee earners and clients, and providing support to other members of the administration team where required
Our preferred location for this full-time role (37.5 hours/week) is in our Nottingham office, but consideration will also be given for the right candidate to work in our Birmingham office or another Gateley office.
