At Bristol City Council, we recognise our responsibility to the people and businesses of Bristol to ensure effective income management, and that the income due to the council is paid promptly to support the delivery of council services.

We are establishing a new, centralised debt recovery team for Accounts Receivable to maximise income, reduce debt and recovery times and work with service areas across the Council to improve our processes. We are recruiting an Accounts Receivable Manager who can lead this new team and help us identify and deliver rapid improvements.

As the Accounts Receivable Manager, you will be Responsible for the day-to-day management, direction and control of income collection and recovery of sundry debt.

You will provide professional advice on statutory changes, project work and new initiatives and identify, develop and implement strategies to enable the council to maximise the collection of revenue and to minimise operational costs.

Taking a proactive approach, you will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Council, customers and third parties and be committed to ensuring fair and effective debt recovery processes. You will enjoy contributing your technical expertise, practical knowledge & experience to identify and lead service improvement initiatives to make a difference.

You will need to be confident and adaptable, in order that you can allocate resources and balance priorities. As well as being a role model, promoting the council's values, you will be excellent in managing relationships and influencing others.

For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.

If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.
