The Role
ALS Laboratories are looking for an Account Manager. The successful candidate will ideally have a background in Client Services and/or Sales within a technical environment, the testing and analysis market, or an associated industry. They will have previous experience of delivering client excellence.

They will have a strong commercial acumen and be able to work with the Sales Manager, other field-based Account Managers/BDMs and the Client Services team in developing and closing profitable sales opportunities.

About the Position
Hours Per Week:

Days Per Week: Monday to Friday - office hours - home based, supporting our Coventry facility's UK market
Contract: Full Time and Permanent
Annual Salary: Dependent on experience

The day to day

  • Contribute to the company's sales strategy and regional plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage key accounts to achieve financial targets, retain clients, and build smaller accounts into key accounts.
  • Conduct regular client meetings, resolve issues, and foster strong relationships through proactive communication and service delivery.
  • Identify new sales opportunities, deliver accurate quotations, and close deals to meet or exceed revenue and KPI targets.
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify market opportunities and align services with client needs, maintaining a healthy sales funnel.
  • Generate actionable reports, track sales progress, and share market insights to support strategic planning.
  • Support sales and marketing initiatives, develop promotional materials, and work cohesively with the sales team to enhance performance.

The Essentials

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing, and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and manage your time effectively.
  • Skilled in using diplomacy, assertiveness, and leadership as appropriate.
  • A relevant scientific degree (preferably in chemistry or environmental science) is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory processes, with previous environmental industry experience being beneficial.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in the Windows suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Database knowledge is preferred but not essential.
