Global Travel (GT) operates in the unique and exclusive Travel Retail (i.e. Duty Free) sector. Often referred to as the sixth continent, Travel Retail has its own set of inhabitants, geography and channels (international airport shops, international land border stores, on-board airlines, ferries and cruise ships, along with some non-retail and diplomatic sales) as well as its own unique commercial landscape (operating 24/7 across multiple languages and currencies with 200+ nationalities travelling annually).

From Bhutan to Botswana and from Venezuela to Vietnam, GT is the only market in Diageo which offers global scope and market accountability. Responsible for representing and selling Diageo products in more than 110 countries around the world, and with access to billions of potential shoppers globally, we are a strategically important market for Diageo in terms of both profit and NSV.

Role Scope:

In this role you will lead our business across various of the Avolta markets as well as coordinate the global innovation pipeline of the customer. Avolta is a complex and strategic customer on a high growth trajectory, with scope to further evolve and define our longer-term growth strategy and ambitions within this customer as well.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Avolta airports as well as Avolta regional and global team.
  • Lead the innovation pipeline for all Avolta globally, from concept approval, price approval to launch plan (distribution, visibility)
  • Secure distribution and activation agreements across key Airports and distribution customers across the Avolta account, with major focus on execution
  • Deliver a strong return on investment (ROI) through expanding margin, managing spend and forecasting planned activity/ spend throughout the year
  • Own and deliver P&L targets against a full year annual operating plan (FY AOP) in line with our GT Avolta ambition
  • Meticulous with volume forecasting, & processing invoice payments
  • Deliver the required local sales measures as per the agreed scorecard - specific execution on distribution, space, promo, activation, category & innovation to deliver brand objectives
  • Manages the governance of trade terms execution, accountable for sales driver audit and assessment for effectiveness of spend.
  • Is instrumental in feeding back insights and understanding to the business through effective M&E and work with CP&A team, Finance teams (CF'sM) and Customer Marketing Managers and executes customer plans that deliver long term sustainable growth for Diageo and our customers

Experience:

  • Significant commercial experience at a management level within the wider Sales Organisation (including account management)
  • Deep understanding of and passion for consumers, shoppers and categories
  • Outstanding strategic relationship manager with ability to plan strategically with customers and link strategy into implementation
  • Highly commercially aware, creative and astute with strong financial and analytical skills
  • Highly positive thinker, able to create new possibilities and manage through ambiguity
  • Ability to gain momentum and to inspire change internally and externally
  • Exhibits consistent high levels of learning agility in all aspects of role - early adopter of new ways of working and platform changes
