Overview

What we do

Account management set the vision for the client business, we create an environment in which the best work can flourish, we are the impresarios, the leaders who bring the whole show together, often reconciling different points of view on the way. Importantly we don't just make things happen, we make them better.

How we do it

Strong relationships are our currency. We should be a trusted partner to the client and promote his or her agenda inside the agency but equally help them to raise their ambitions creatively and commercially outside of the agency.

We should be 'glass half full' but plan as if it's half empty. As leaders we set the tone so good morale and esprit de corps are part of our responsibility but an ambitious, enthusiastic and optimistic attitude to the job shouldn't stop us always having an eye on the contingency plan and planning for the worst. We are professionally paranoid, we never assume anything and triple check everything.

We need to be creatively passionate and commercially savvy. Not either or . Creativity and results are inextricably linked. We create environments in which the best work (highly creative and innovative) can flourish but also keep a focus on results, knowing how the business makes money and know how to make it ( and us) more money.

  • Be commercially savvy

What is an account executive?

They are the rock of the team and the account manager's apprentice. They are the person the team goes to when they need stuff sorting. Their role is to execute all requests made of them with enthusiasm, speed and reliability, demonstrating great attention to detail, total trustworthiness and initiative. This is a process of learning by doing, but also observing and assimilating the very best practice of their account manager, and importantly asking lots of questions.

What does an account executive do?

They make things happen : perfect execution, on time, every time.

They make things better : they demonstrate an ability to show initiative.

They build strong relationships: they are likeable and trustworthy, and

develop solid client relationships based on their ability to deliver. Internally

they forge strong relationships by being clear, honest and straightforward.

They behave glass half full: they are enthusiastic and upbeat with a can do attitude.

They plan glass half empty : they understand the importance of 'professional

paranoia' and the account person's need to take responsibility, never

assuming anything but always checking and checking again.

Commercially savvy: they understand the importance of financial rigour and

begin to learn how to monitor spending, accurate budgeting and the

practicalities of the billing system as a support to their account manager.

Creatively passionate: - like everyone who works in the department we

expect our account execs to be genuinely enthusiastic, curious and interested

in all things creative, actively keeping up to date on what's best in class across disciplines.

Technical skills

associated with the channels in which they work.

Qualifications

About the candidate

We're looking for entry level talent that may be looking for their first professional services role or their first role in a creative agency. Whilst a passion for the subject matter (Advertising) is important and a reasonable understanding of the role (Account Management) is useful, it's more important, at this stage, that the candidate has the right mentality, intelligence, attitude, energy, optimism, organizational skills, a love of people and willingness to learn. Given the leadership role of the account management department, handling stress and level of resilience are useful.

Additional information

The recruitment process

  • Step 1: Apply and get started!
  • Step 2: Show us your skills and strengths - complete some fun, interactive tasks through our assessment tool delivered in partnership with Arctic Shores. Look out for this in your emails following your application!
  • Step 3: A quick chat with a recruiter to get to know you better and for you to ask any questions and let us know if you require any adjustments.
  • Step 4: Join us for an assessment centre where you can showcase your skills and strengths.
  • Step 5: We'll give you feedback, post assessment day, whether or not we move forward with your application.

What to Expect from the Arctic Shores Assessment

As part of our selection process, we use an Arctic Shores game-based assessment to help us understand your natural strengths in a fair, engaging way. This isn't a quiz about what you know - it's about showing how you think, behave and solve problems in real time.

What it is

  • A series of interactive tasks (games) designed to measure problem-solving, decision-making, adaptability, focus and other work-relevant behaviours.
  • You won't see typical questions, instead, you'll play activities that look and feel like simple games.

How it works

  • You'll receive an email with a link and simple instructions.
  • Before the official assessment you can try a practice task so you're confident with the format.
  • The assessment usually has around 7-9 tasks and should take about the same time as a standard online test.

Tips to succeed

  • Choose a quiet, distraction-free space with a reliable device.
  • Read the instructions carefully before starting each activity.
  • Be yourself - Arctic Shores is designed to capture how you naturally approach challenges, not what you think is the "right" answer.

After you finish

  • Candidates receive a personalised feedback report that explains what your responses suggest about your strengths - valuable insight whether you join us or not.

There are no right or wrong answers - your results simply help us understand where you'll thrive. Approach it with confidence and focus on performing consistently throughout each task. Please read this guide which provides further information and guidance on how to get started: PowerPoint Presentation
