Associate / Senior Associate (4 - 10 PQE) - Corporate and Commercial / Projects, Energy and Infrastructure (Oil and Gas)

JOB PURPOSE

E&I is part of Brodies corporate team and undertakes the firm's work in energy and infrastructure. In energy, the Group works in oil, gas, renewables and heat. In infrastructure, we work in a variety of sectors including water, waste, transport, regeneration and health.
You will work within the Oil & Gas section of the team and can expect to be assisting on a mix of upstream Operator and Service Sector work. There may also be opportunities to work on projects for the wider energy team.

CORE TASKS

E&I is part of Brodies corporate team and undertakes the firm's work in energy and infrastructure. In energy, the Group works in oil, gas, renewables and heat. In infrastructure, we work in a variety of sectors including water, waste, transport, regeneration and health.
You will work within the Oil & Gas section of the team and can expect to be assisting on a mix of upstream Operator and Service Sector work. There may also be opportunities to work on projects for the wider energy team.

In principle, the role will be to support the partners in the team and will involve a mix of work between upstream operator and service sector work.
E&I transactions vary and work assignments will depend upon the specific instructions we have at any one time. The following are illustrative:

  • Advising operators on all aspects of upstream operational contracts, including JOAs, transportation arrangements and decommissioning security agreements
  • Advising operators on field development agreements
  • Advising on diligence aspects of M&A transactions, which may also involve working with the wider energy team on non-Oil & Gas transactions and working with the partners on SPAs and M&A transactions
  • Advising service sector clients (and operators) on contractual issues in relation to all types of specialist service sector contracts, including drilling, seismic, offshore construction, EPCs etc
  • Advising on regulatory matters
  • Establishing good working relationships with team, clients and other departments in Brodies
  • Business development with clients and prospects
  • Preparing industry briefing notes
  • Assisting the Oil & Gas team in keeping up to date with legal and industry developments
  • Be aware of Brodies' information security policies, and protect information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times
