We're looking for an experienced, commercially focused Account Director to join our Client Development team. You will be responsible for managing relationships with our clients (existing and prospective!) as well as providing support to our Client Services Director with the day-to-day management and development of our Senior Account Managers. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate strong negotiation skills and a solid understanding of how client budgets and internal profitability work. You will be an excellent communicator with aptitude in fostering long-term relationships.
We are an office-first agency, offering a great degree of flexibility. This means we work and come together in our office spaces (Sheffield, Manchester or London) up to 2 days a week to collaborate, share ideas, innovate, and be creative, creating the best work together.

THE JOB
Objectives
- Come with a naturally inquisitive nature to give yourself a deep understanding of our client's businesses and be a trusted strategic partner to them
- Identify opportunities to grow your clients' accounts and increase our impact - identify what they need before your clients even do, working collaboratively with internal teams and our senior management to get things done, going beyond the brief
- Manage your clients' budgets effectively and always look out for opportunities to maximise profit margins
- Deliver first class service to our clients, exceeding their expectations
- Delegate tasks to internal teams, ensuring you keep activities running to schedule and plans established in advance of activity
- Develop and maintain a client call schedule and distribute to the relevant people internally, always ensuring that they are up to date with the demands of these accounts
- Lead on client meetings for any key accounts you're involved in,, making sure that slides are up to date and done on time
- Spot opportunities to make the way we deliver work for clients better, bringing proactive ideas and solutions to relevant Heads of Departments to streamline our approach or find efficiencies
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with our clients ensuring retention targets are met
- Develop and implement strategies to grow our client base, in line with the overall business strategy and continuously look out for new opportunities on how we can bring more clients in
- Work with the wider business to deliver strong strategies to match client briefs, and ensure we deliver to the clients' expectations (and beyond!)
- Lead the client/agency relationships with senior stakeholders
- Look after the agency's most valuable accounts and be responsible for the revenue for these accounts
- Support Client Services Director acting as an escalation point for Senior Account Managers
- Maintain SLAs related to efficient communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that deadlines will be met
- Chair calls and meetings with prospective clients or internal teams, sharing agendas and contact reports
- Conduct document briefings and final reviews of those briefings before it goes out to the client
- Keeping all client/agency documentation up to date (WIPs, including roadmaps)
- Be a trusted partner, acting as the first escalation point for your portfolio of clients
- Identifying opportunities to upsell and facilitating forthcoming conversation
- See all contracts from start to finish, including contract negotiation, creation of contract and final review of terms of contract and sign off
- Regularly update CRM software with any cross-selling opportunities
- Reporting on client satisfaction and be able to identify ways to continuously improve and maintain this
- Join pitches and assist on new business activities where required
- Deputise for the Client Services Director as and when needed
