Every day, more than 6,000 of Lancashire's most vulnerable residents rely on Accessible Transport to get to school, day services, and essential appointments. With over 1,000 employees, 250 minibuses, and 2,000 supplier contracts, this service is one of the largest and most essential transport operations in the county.
We're looking for an exceptional and forward-thinking Accessible Transport Services Manager to lead this high-impact service-ensuring safe, efficient and person-centred transport that supports children, adults and families across Lancashire. In this pivotal role, you'll shape strategy, influence senior leaders, and inspire teams to deliver excellence every single day.
What You Will Be Doing
- Leading the Accessible Transport team to deliver statutory home-to-school transport for children with SEND, transport for adults attending day services, and Dial-a-Ride provision across key districts.
- Ensuring all service users meet eligibility criteria and that transport solutions are safe, proportionate, efficient and fully compliant with legislation and guidance.
- Providing strategic leadership for over 1,000 staff and ensuring the safe and legal operation of a 250-vehicle fleet and 2,000 external supplier contracts.
- Exercising financial control of a budget exceeding £50 million, ensuring value for money and strong financial stewardship.
What We're Looking For
- A strategic leader with significant professional or management experience operating at scale within a major service area.
- A strong track record of delivering high-quality services against challenging targets, resources, and political contexts.
- Exceptional ability to influence senior decision-makers, build credibility quickly, and maintain strong working relationships across services.
- Proven experience leading, motivating and developing large, diverse teams in a fast-paced and continuously changing environment.
