Description

The Academic Casework Manager is a newly created role and will be key in establishing and developing the team and delivering effective academic casework management, primarily relating to academic integrity and academic appeal processes. The post is central to creating a professional, compliant, and student-focused casework service that meets regulatory requirements and mitigates institutional risk.

About the Role

The Academic Casework Manager will primarily oversee academic integrity and appeals, with involvement in complaints and disciplinary matters as needed.

Additionally, the role holder will:

  • Coordinate, line manage and train staff involved in casework, ensuring consistency and high service standards, and acts as the University's subject-matter expert and advocate for student academic casework processes, representing the institution internally and externally
  • Develop and deliver academic casework focussed training for staff and students
  • Will be a key stakeholder in identifying and analysing trends in academic student casework (particularly appeals and academic misconduct), advising on action plans, and providing expert guidance to students and staff on relevant policies and individual cases.
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills in investigation, have excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills, and be able to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the relevant rules and regulations as well as a wide range of the University's policy and procedures

About You

  • Experience of working within the Higher Education sector, particularly the Office for Students and their remit, particularly ongoing conditions for registration
  • Experience of working with the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education (OIA) including in depth knowledge of the Good Practice Framework and it's onwards uses
  • Experience of dealing with complex and sensitive student matters
  • Experience of reviewing and implementing policies and/or regulations and identifying improvements to service and policy, as well as proposing and implementing improvements.
  • Experience of administering and managing processes relating (but not limited to) appeals, academic misconduct and academic integrity.
  • Experience of delivering training to large staff groups
  • Experience of supporting students and working with staff involved in partnership and franchised delivery arrangements
  • Experience of supporting, co ordinating or chairing Panels and/or Committees

Salary Grade 7 - Starting from GBP 38,784 rising to GBP 43,482 per annumThe salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.Additional Information
There may be occasions where you are expected to work outside of your normal hours for the purpose of attending conferences, public events, etc.
