Job overview
We are delighted to be inviting applications from enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologists to join our expanding and innovative Training & Partnerships Team in Psychological Services, led by our Associate Clinical Director. This is an exciting new opportunity to develop a career in training in Clinical Psychology & the psychological professions. This varied role would offer post holders opportunities to contribute to an expanding array of projects, which include training delivery to staff within the workforce, building our links and provision to partner organisations, alongside our flagship Masters programme. We are a friendly, enthusiastic and supportive psychology-led team who are committed to delivering excellent training, supporting high-quality psychological service-provision.
There will also be opportunities to contribute to other exciting projects being developed by our team, including psychologically informed CPD for the wider NHS staff group, and our ACT-based wellbeing programme for staff led by the ACTforYou team. The Trust offers excellent support for staff CPD, and post holders will also have the opportunity to build their engagement with wider networks, offering excellent experience to develop leadership skills
Main duties of the job
For the lecturing part of the role, we are looking for staff to bring a range of expertise across psychological assessment & therapies, mental health, physical health, learning disabilities & specialist areas of delivery across the adult and older adult range. We are particularly interested to hear from those who bring experience of teaching, lecturing, research & supervision and who are keen to build their experience and skills in clinical training. For the wider clinical training part of the role, an understanding of ACT would be welcomed, along with experience of facilitating groups or workshops, and a strong interest in staff support and wellbeing. The post is part-time and can fit alongside a clinical role, or another training role. For those who are interested in full-time , we have a range of opportunities in clinical specialisms that could be combined with one of the training roles.
The post will include both online delivery as well as in-person. While a significant portion of the work can be undertaken from home, the post holder will need to be able to travel to locations in Essex for in-person delivery; there are opportunities for flexible working arrangements.
Post holders will be supported to gain qualifications in learning and teaching; other opportunities, for example to gain dual accreditation in a specialist area of psychological therapy, to undertake leadership training, or to develop an area of research, are also available supported by the appraisal process.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology
- HCPC registered practitioner psychologist
- Evidence of continuing professional development in line with the requirements of professional registration
- Evidence of completing training and/or CPD in clinical and/or research supervision.
Desirable criteria
- Further qualification in a specialised area of psychological practice e.g. CBT or other
- BABCP accreditation
- Qualification in teaching in higher education
- Evidence of research publications
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and interventions with clients across a range of care settings.
- Doctoral level knowledge & understanding of the theory and practice of specialised psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and outcome evaluation in treating people with complex mental health presentations.
- Doctoral level knowledge of mental health and psychological distress, including the theoretical and empirical evidence base and frameworks for conceptualising distress in context.
- High level knowledge of psychological therapies and the application of current models of practice, specialist assessment tools and outcomes frameworks in own specialist area of practice
Desirable criteria
- Experience of delivering training within the context of a post-graduate level training programme for the psychological professions.
- Post qualification experience of applying advanced research skills within a clinical/other setting.
- Post accreditation training/experience in additional specialised areas of psychological practice e.g. CBT, CBTp, family therapy, ACT, DBT or other.
