Job Purpose
- RES currently provides High Voltage Operations and Maintenance (HV O&M) Services to renewable energy assets in the UK & Ireland. Due to increased demand from our clients, we are seeking an HV Senior Authorised Person (400kV) to grow and improve this service.
- RES provides OFTO O&M to a number of sites around the UK where we are required to provide full Safety from the System services and either delivery or delivery management of a full O&M service
Key Accountabilities
The responsibilities of the HV SAP's include:
- Always adherence to health and safety requirements and help to maintain and improve safety standards
- Achieve and maintain Senior Authorised Person status at increasing voltages.
- Become fully conversant and make sure that all works are undertaken in accordance with the RES Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules and Safety Rule Instructions, this will include but is not limited to:
- Preparing, issuing and cancelling safety documents
- Carrying out switching, isolation and earthing duties
- Acting as Control Engineer
- Preparing switching schedules
- Managing the interface between system boundaries with site and DNO/NGT as required
- Producing and reviewing method statements and risk assessments
- Producing maintenance plans for HV equipment
- Maintaining the asset register
- Management and/or delivery of planned and unplanned maintenance activities on electrical equipment
- Producing final reports
- Undertaking troubleshooting and fault-finding on RES controlled plant/equipment.
- Carrying out inductions for sub-contractors and deliver Competent Person Training.
- Keeping in close communication with HV Control and Project Lead SAP
- Liaising with external stakeholders such as DNO/NGT and asset owner
- Reacting to emergencies, site outages and changing circumstances
- Other duties commensurate with the role
Knowledge
Essential:
- HV Safe Systems of Work
- Knowledge of the key legislation underpinning UK high voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance
- Detailed knowledge of UK industry HV electrical safety rules
- Detailed knowledge of HV equipment
- HV maintenance practices including HSG230
Desirable:
- Knowledge of offshore working
Skills
Essential:
- Strong approach to safe working practices
- Able to operate and maintain various types of HV plant/equipment.
- Excellent communication skills
- Good people skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities whilst ensuring safety and quality are maintained
- Ability to identify problems, conduct analysis and develop solutions
Desirable:
- Able to use equipment for testing and fault finding on HV plant/equipment
Experience
Essential:
- SAP Experience @ 400kV
- Operation and maintenance of HV Equipment
- Experience in fault finding on HV plant and equipment.
- Commissioning HV plant and equipment.
Desirable:
- Basic HV protection testing
- 400kV SAP
Qualifications
Essential:
- Full UK driving licence
- Previously held SAP authorisation under high voltage electrical safety rules at 400KV
- IOSH Managing Safely or CITB SMSTS or equivalent
Desirable:
- Electrical Engineering HNC or equivalent industry experience
