NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG's own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles.

The Role

Ability to analyse and oversee the full life cycle of all projects within the framework, tracking and managing the progress, cost, resource and reporting to ensure its efficient and effective delivery

Ability to produce and present salient project information both internally and to the client

Analyse project performance to produce management information and updates against the project objectives

Ability to provide clear and efficient department and project leadership, direction and support to a diverse team of personnel

Ensure personal, professional, technical and engineering competency through continuing professional development

Enhance the potential of others by coaching and mentoring as appropriate

Be able to contribute to senior management team business planning, strategy & growth

Project Delivery

Oversee framework / project meetings both internally and with clients, to ensure the administration and completion of project specific information, to include:

Framework / Project strategy

programme

project plan / control plan / health & safety documentation

terms and conditions

cashflow

project risk assessment

contract risk assessment

Identify the requirements of the project team and where appropriate assist in the recruitment of the team

Manage project team and technical/site personnel to ensure successful project delivery to budget, safety and quality requirements

Liaise with site specific and technical personnel to ensure delivery of project

Compile and report monthly a Framework report, project status reports and project close out reports for review by Directors

Liaise with client, internal and group company colleagues as necessary to:

originate and submit approved reports for the client

attend and contribute to project meetings with clients

present technical solutions

respond to any appropriate enquiry with an informed source to advise, direct and effect the appropriate course of action and supply of information

Monitor and control progress of the project against the agreed deliverables and costs

Ensure compliance with the agreed scope and specification through actions of the project personnel to meet budget, safety and quality requirements

Commercial Awareness / Client and Business Liaison

Be aware of Company business plan and to promote NSG to ensure continuity of business within the context of that plan

Contribute to the development of business and success of current projects by the internal referral and communication of appropriate information and intelligence

Recognise the potential impact of own actions for the Company, clients and suppliers and act in appreciation of this at all times

Work pro-actively to ensure clients and the Company Directorate are kept informed and aware of project status throughout

Review and report the financial performance of projects

Maintain effective working relationships across all Company, Site and framework functions

Ensure understanding / knowledge of terms and conditions for project and bids / tenders

Investigate and nurture additional project scope, follow-on works and other projects to maximise potential sales opportunities

Manage project change control within contractual period of reply

Resource Allocation and Management

Manage resource within the framework to provide a return on profit in line with the business plan

Assign work to appropriate individuals and teams in order to achieve optimum delivery

Monitor work activity and progress in conjunction with the appropriate manager / function head to ensure all projects run within programme and plan

Manage all projects within pre-determined project conditions, plan and department budgets

Review and report financial performance of project, making recommendation / or action improvement plan / remedial activity as necessary

Has authority to agree variations on defined written project plan

Ensure and promote effective communication and working between disciplines within the work and between work packages to support the overall delivery of the project objectives

Monitor resource loading and provide early warning of any shortfall or excess capacity

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in project management or related engineering discipline.
  • IOSH 'Managing Safely' or appropriate formal Health & Safety qualification.
  • 10 years+ experience in a project delivery related role.
  • Client-side Project Management Experience.
  • Project Management qualification such as APMP
  • Working in live office/commercial environment.
  • Experience in delivering NEC Contracts.
  • Managing multiple projects £10m+.
