Project Manager - Grid Automation

Seize this new opportunity as a Project Manager for Grid Automation Systems with Hitachi Energy UK and Ireland for high & Medium voltage substations.

In this key exciting hands on role you’ll take ownership and personal accountability for project managing the commercial, contractual aspects with a high attention to detail. You will enjoy interacting with others with a high level of engagement with the wider Hitachi team and external stakeholders.  Our culture is a fast paced environment where no 2 days are the same as you co-ordinate, multi-task and manage every detail of your prestigious portfolio of projects forwards through to final completion.

This is a very hands on role where you will be handling every component part of the project through to the end product. This includes ensuring the end product is fit for purpose and has gone through the various phases of implementation, design, testing and approval before final sign off. Where checks and measures and contingency steps are taken into account and various layers of approval along the way. You will be familiar with managing high level of detail and technical complexity to ensure all the component elements of the various projects come together with you in the driving seat to make it happen in consultation with others.

The Role

  • Implementing projects within the area of Substation Automation.
  • Manage the assigned projects from the initial handover from sales to the successful completion of all on-site work.
  • Coordinate an international project team and oversee the efficient use of allocated resources.
  • As the key point of contact, you will embrace an open and proactive approach to communication in your efforts to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Drawing on your business expertise, you will manage the customer contract and take full responsibility for all commercial and contractual aspects of the project.

Your Background

  • This position requires both technical qualifications in Electrical Engineering as well as business-related experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of fundamental power system design and operation.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of control & protection systems as well as an appreciation for IT systems; networking, virtualization and cyber-security.
  • Proven track record in product project management, your credentials will include the ability to integrate into the wider Hitachi Power Grids team.
  • Certifications in project management (IPMA, PMI, or equivalent) would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • self-motivated approach and team spirit and well-developed leadership skills.
