Main duties of the job

To manage and lead a multidisciplinary team in the provision of a full pharmaceutical dispensing service to NHS patients being treated within the

Barnet Hospital in accordance with objectives set by the Chief Technician, Patient Services. The post holder will be responsible for and organise the day-to-day running of the in-patient pharmacy. To monitor, develop and deliver the technical elements of the pharmaceutical service for patients in accordance with objectives set by the Chief Technician - Patient Services.

This will include overseeing the ordering of medicines, ensuring safe, appropriate supply of stock to the wards and stock control throughout the dispensary.

In conjunction with the Chief Technician - Patient Services, the senior technician will also implement and be involved in EDC and control drug room daily management, medicine management initiatives, ensure the cost effective use of medicines and assist in the implementation of cost saving initiatives.

Participating in the late team and weekend rota to include managing In patient workflow through the day and liaise with a Chief Technician - Patient Services if any issue.

Essential

  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences and NVQ Pharmacy services Level 3 or equivalent
  • Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician

Desirable

  • QCF A1 workplace assessor award or working towards this
  • Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) or willing to work toward this
