Job summary

Perform a comprehensive range of routine and complex non-invasive cardiac investigations primarily on adult patients.

To professionally develop, acquiring specialist technical skills in non-routine procedures, and adapt to the changing needs of the department.

Supervise less experienced staff in own area of work, so maintaining the service.

Train new and less experienced staff in own area of work, so developing staff.

Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring a quality service is maintained throughout all sections of the department across the three sites.

Main duties of the job

  • Electrocardiography (ECG), including analysing ECG's recorded by others and advising when it is safe to send a patient home following ECG or when further medical opinion should be sought.
  • Application/issuing of ambulatory monitors (ECG) on adult patients.
  • Analyse and produce a clinical report of ambulatory recordings (which may be basic or complex), which requires a high level of concentration over a period of time.
  • Manage exercise tolerance tests, which require a high degree of precision and sensory coordination, and interpret results, providing an accurate clinical report.
  • Manage doctor led exercise tolerance tests for high risk cardiac patients, interpret results and compose an accurate clinical report.
  • Application and issue of Event recorders on adult patients.
  • Analyse and produce a clinical report of event recordings.

Perform emergency defibrillation, attending cardiac arrests if required
