Job Description
Join our team as Transport Manager within our Group Transport sector, for our customer Micheldever, based at Greenford, London. You will lead a team of Transport Clerical and Driver colleagues, to ensure that the relevant delivery, productivity, and financial performance indicators are met and to input the overall depot management team as required to deliver business objectives, to be best in class for our customer.
This is a great opportunity for you as a leader to showcase your efficient management of all transport labour and assets, deliver agreed transport productivity levels and other departmental targets, to ensure customers receive deliveries on time and provide the customers with accuracy and quality.
The role is on a rota of 5 days, predominately Monday to Friday however some weekends may be required. Flexibility is required to ensure coverage across our Peak days.
How will you contribute?
- Managing a Transport operation delivering to customers in line with the agreed service level and customer service metrics.
- Ensuring all Legal, Health and Safety, EU Driving Regulations and Operational procedures are always adhered to, ensuring the safety of self and others.
- Support the delivery of the Business Plan - setting and achieving specific measurable targets for the team.
- To maximise productivity and manage resource in order to improve costs.
- Effectively communicating operational and business plans and changes to all colleagues.
- To support a culture of Continuous Improvement across the department. Implement new projects that will improve the efficiency of the operation and improve site service.
- Performance Management of all colleagues within the team to ensure the achievement of operational targets.
- Ensuring all Personnel policies and procedures are followed that enable colleagues to be treated fairly and with respect in line with the Wincanton values.
- Promote and emulate the Wincanton values, drive, and support the business KPI's.
What will you bring?
- Transport knowledge of current EU and Working Time regulations.
- Experience of working in a management role in a Transport / Distribution environment.
- A good understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
- Experience of dealing with full disciplinary procedures.
- Leads by example and enjoys working within a team.
- Proactive, results orientated, and deadline driven.
- Confident communicator.
- Demonstrable experience of leading and developing a team.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- IT and numeracy skills.
- Able to manage change.
