Tax Manager 25-30 hours p/w

We are looking for a Tax Manager to work 25-30 hours per week, we offer hybrid working from our lovely offices in Milton Keynes.

The role:

  • Responsible for all tax matters relevant to the Group (Corporation tax, VAT, Employment taxes)
  • Owning and maintaining strong relationships with HMRC (leading the process for any inspections), tax advisors, and with the external auditor's tax team
  • Managing Rightmove corporate tax strategy and planning, reporting on this and working with external advisors to agree the right tax structure, preparing the annual tax strategy
  • Driving and delivering the tax-related response to the Finance agenda to improve and develop robust financial processes and controls
  • The initial point of consultation on any tax related accounting matters (such as revenue recognition, share based payments, tax developments or new accounting standards)
  • Leading on SAO, and any other, reporting
  • Preparing entity and consolidated tax accounts at the half year and year end, including input into the tax related statutory accounts disclosures
  • Oversight of the corporation tax compliance process for five statutory entities (returns prepared by Grant Thornton)
  • Overall responsibility for the VAT returns, reviewing the returns prepared by the Tax Assistant, advising on ad hoc queries from business on VAT (such as in relation to any new products or overseas VAT matters)
  • Keeping up to date with legislative changes and ensuring compliance with other tax matters such as payroll related tax requirements, processing of UK R&D tax claims, transfer pricing, IR35 and minimum wage matters
  • Business partnering on tax matters across the business to ensure tax optimisation and compliance is considered in project decision making
  • Coaching and developing the part-time Tax Assistant

We're looking for someone who:

  • ACA or CTA qualified, with a financial reporting background and tax experience in practice and industry
  • Strong report writing skills, solid tax accounting, excel capability and ideally experience of financial systems for tax matters
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with ability understand the broader business agenda and to explain tax matters in a simple way to non-tax professionals
  • Self-starter who will take ownership and responsibility for their role, plan forward, identify and implement improvements, manage multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines
  • Has high standards, cares about the quality of delivery/output having a 'continuously improvement' mindset.
