Job overview

We're looking for a motivated and detail-driven Senior Lead Pharmacy Technician to take the lead in our Clinical Trials service. Main duties of the job

  • Coordinate all pharmaceutical aspects of clinical trials, ensuring effective, accurate and timely supply of trial medications.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to research teams, sponsors and pharmacy staff on all pharmaceutical elements of clinical trials.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards across all dispensing activities.
  • Maintain robust documentation, audit trails and stock control to support safe and efficient clinical trial operations.
  • Lead, train and support pharmacy staff involved in clinical trials, promoting high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Contribute to service development, harmonisation and quality improvement initiatives within the pharmacy clinical trials team.

Person specification

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Recognised pharmacy technicians qualification e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
  • Registered Technician with the GPhC
  • Mandatory professional CPD as defined by the GPhC

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Post qualification: solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice including aseptic services, ward/distribution services, dispensary and clinical trials
  • Previous experience in training others
  • Previous experience in looking after pharmacy computer systems

Desirable criteria

  • Previous clinical trials or dispensary management experience.

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Excellent and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to communicate empathetically

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
