About the role:
To provide specialist advice on the conservation and management of the historic environment in relation to planning applications, listed building consent applications, conservation area consents, planning enforcement investigations, planning appeals and pre-application advice enquiries.
About you:
The successful candidate will have a:
• Degree in building conservation, planning or related subject.
• Post qualification experience of built heritage conservation in the planning field.
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplined professional environment.
• Experience of delivering excellent customer care.
• A sound knowledge and understanding of national and local conservation policy and legislation.
• A sound knowledge and understanding of the planning process.
What you will do:
To be responsible for the professional processing of allocated planning and listed building consent applications and to presentations to Committee as necessary
To deal with built heritage enquiries and to undertake negotiations with
developers, applicants and agents to enable 'frontloading' of the application process to achieve comprehensive and timely outcomes.
To deal with planning appeals arising from the Council's decisions.
To prepare conservation area appraisals, assessments and enhancement
schemes.
To undertake fieldwork on site including site visits.
To ensure a consistent and positive approach to the Development Management function that helps support the achievement of the Council's Improvement priorities.
