Security Team Manager

We are looking for a Security Team Manager to provide exceptional leadership and direction in the management of the QEOP Security Teams which is responsible for supporting and managing all of the QEOP operations 24hrs per day 7 days per week.

Purpose of the job

To provide clear and timely communication to all within the QEOP on key issues that affect the business operation and customer service delivery and to ensure that the interests of QEOP, their guests and staff are fully protected at all times and conduct yourself accordingly, as their representative.

Hours of work 4 on 4 off - late shifts - with an average of 32 hours per week

Responsible to: Senior Contracts Manager

External relationships: Park Management, Suppliers, Contractors, Venues and members of the public.
Internal relationships: Controllers, Control room and Ground Supervisors, Intel & Control room manager, Car Park Team, Ground security staff, Security Team Managers & Senior Contracts Manager.

Job overview

- Responsible for the 'live' operation of the Security team that manages the essential functions of;

- Health safety & welfare of staff.
- Incidents that affect QEOP Operations.
- Business Continuity Planning centred on the continued operation of the control room
and park.
- QEOP buildings and public space security and safety.
- Leadership and direction to all staff, ensure all issues are dealt with correctly.
- Reporting and monitoring incidents within the park.
- Maintaining contact with Security Officers patrolling the QEOP.
- Crowd Management and providing solutions.
- Ensure all incidents are logged and managed effectively through to completion.
- Provide management support during major events.

Main duties

- Ensure staff are briefed and deployed correctly so they can effectively carry out their daily duties.

- Completion and checking of all accident and Health and Safety reports.
- Management & support for out of hours.
- Complete weekly and monthly audits.
- Ensure all Life safety equipment and any other equipment used by the Security team is in working order and ready to be used when required.
- Ensure standards of dress, safety and presentation are maintained within the QEOP security team at all times.
- Staff Misconduct.
- Take detailed notes on any issues of a disciplinary/capability nature, ensuring that Company Procedures are carried out regarding any disciplinary and appeal incidents.
- Monitor and manage staff time & attendance.
- Day to day management and rostering of all staff.
- Review the performance and quality of staff on a monthly basis to achieve high performance standards.
- Provide continued training and coaching to staff to enhance performance and provide job enrichment.
- To be fully conversant with the methods of working of all equipment and to ensure that it is of a standard and quality commensurate with the requirements of the property.
- Recruitment of new staff for the QEOP.
- Ensure that all staff receive the required level of supervision.
- Conduct and monitor 3/6 month reviews and annual appraisals.
- Ensure that all staff are site trained and have signed the assignment and procedure Instructions and that these are being followed and any corrective actions are raised
- Ensure that all contractual requirements are properly fulfilled and if there is an issue or concern inform the Senior Contracts Manager.
- Conduct Drugs and Alcohol Testing on team members or persons as directed by Senior Contracts Manager.
- To develop and maintain good working relations with applicable local agencies and services.
- Management of key performance indicators and service level agreements.
- Handle all day to day enquiries which arise from whatever source in respect of the daily operation of the security of the park.
- Any other reasonable request from the Management team.

Skills & Knowledge
- Relevant industry experience while not essential is preferred, although it is expected that the candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the unique features of the industry including licensing, events, public space and corporate environments.
- Ability to contribute toward a team's operation or can work on his own initiative.
- Able to communicate effectively and clearly at all levels within the organisation.
- Complete working knowledge of all systems.
- A comprehensive working knowledge of all processes and procedures.
- Experience of managing people and challenging situations.
- A skillful negotiator who is capable of resolving issues.
- A decisive and assertive decision maker who can interpret situations to proceed with a prioritised action plan.
- Excellent report-writing and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- A positive attitude to dealing with people and taking on challenges.
- An understanding of large mass participation events would be an advantage.
- Full UK Driving licence is desirable.
- Valid SIA DS Licence.
- Valid SIA CCTV Licence is desirable.
