Out of School Club Manager

We are looking for an organised and enthusiastic Manager who can provide a range of play-based activities for children aged 4 to 7 years old in our breakfast and afterschool club within the Christ The King Catholic Primary School.

Responsible to: Out of School Clubs Coordinator

Rate of Pay: £12,897.36 per annum, inclusive of holiday pay

Hours: 25.5 hours per week (22.5 hours on site and 3 hours non-contact planning/ admin), term time only

Working Hours: Mornings: 7:15am - 9am and After School: 2:45pm - 5:30pm

Job Description

Purpose & Scope

To be responsible for creating a safe, healthy, stimulating, and happy environment in which children can enjoy a good breakfast and/or light meal after school, and be both prepared for their working day at school and given suitable nutrition after the school day.

This will include taking responsibility for:

  • The effective and smooth operation of the breakfast/after school club, with the needs and interests of the child as the first priority.
  • Managing staff and maintaining a healthy, creative, and effective team culture.
  • The oversight of the organisational requirements of the club, ensuring that the club is served by accurate and up-to-date record keeping.
  • Maintaining close communication with the Out of Schools Clubs Coordinator, and also with the Head of Children and Families Outreach when required. Including reporting safeguarding/child protection concerns.
  • Ensuring the club is run in accordance with Valley CiDS policies, procedures and ethos.
  • Diligently ensuring that children and staff enjoy a safe environment in which all risks are eradicated or minimised and managed at a satisfactory level.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • To supervise team members by encouraging, leading and supporting the team of club assistants and to provide a safe and stimulating environment for the children, with creative and appropriate play opportunities.
  • To supervise all club activities (including monitoring attendance, set up and pack down) and the children (including behavioural and emotional needs, first aid).
  • Detailed planning and preparation for sessions.
  • Following the healthy eating menu for the week, meeting food hygiene regulations, and purchasing the necessary items to do this.
  • To keep accurate records including attendance, finance, accident/injury reports and safeguarding.
  • To develop and maintain a good working relationship with school staff, parents and carers, ensuring clear communications concerning children accessing the clubs.
  • To promote the Zest club in partnership with the school.
  • To adhere to the departmental safeguarding and child protection policies and also ensure that this is also done by all team members.
  • To attend training events as required (which may include during school holidays in agreement with your line manager), attending one to one meeting with your line manager on an agreed date in the school holidays.
  • To undertake any other duties, compatible with the role, that are required.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Efficient time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Understanding of safeguarding practices.

Desirable

  • A childcare Level 3 qualification & experience working with children
  • Appropriate transferrable skills from previous employment and/or volunteering.
  • Previous experience of managerial role working with children or young people.
