Major Gifts Manager
Position Objective:
This role will manage a portfolio of PETA's Vanguard Society members. Those members giving at the required level will be qualified and added to a pool of prospects. Development plans will be created to steward each on their giving journey.
The portfolio will also be managed individually through qualification steps, ensuring effective communications, maximising giving levels, and achieving income goals. As their giving level increases, new donors within a geographical catchment will be added to the portfolio.
This role will work via telephone, written communications, and face-to-face meetings with donors. It will also work with the broader team to assist with organising regional events to engage donors across the UK.

£38,000 - £43,000

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a strategy for mid-level and major gifts fundraising
- Manage and maintain a portfolio of mid-level, major gift donors and prospects
- Effectively steward donors and prospects
- Solicit and close gifts from assigned donors
- Develop personal engagement plans for donors, using knowledge and insights to plan appropriate communications
- Thank and welcome new members to the Vanguard Society
- Develop and implement donor-specific strategic communication plans by phone, email, and mail; these plans will include updates on PETA's progress and victories, messages of gratitude, invitations to events, and requests for increased financial support
- Manage a pipeline of prospects, creating engaging opportunities for donors to increase their giving to a higher level
- Regularly qualify new prospects and donors based on their capacity, inclination, affinity, and readiness to give
- Ensure that database records are updated promptly; document pertinent information (meetings, correspondence, notes, etc.) to enhance and develop PETA's donor database
- Maintain a clear understanding of - and the ability to articulate - PETA's objectives as well as details of specific PETA programmes
- Work with the wider Major gifts team and Assistant Director of International Fundraising on all aspects of cultivation and stewardship, including events - in person and virtual, looking for ways to use these to engage donors and deepen relationships
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
- Perform and manage any other projects or duties requested by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience in Mid-level and Major giving fundraising
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
- Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to prepare professional business communications
- Proven ability to interact with donors in a professional and personable manner
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively
- Proven ability to take initiative and work independently
- Commitment to PETA's objectives
- Adherence to a vegan lifestyle strongly preferred
