The Scottish FA are looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced individual into the position of Head of Performance Services to lead on the delivery of a high-performance culture to support all of our National Teams in addition to the wider elite player performance work of the Association to ensure players and coaches have the edge to compete at the highest level.
The role will involve leading and managing a team of full-time staff within the Performance Services Unit as part of the wider Football Department to help deliver key strategic objectives of the association, including our aim to qualify consistently and compete in major tournaments.
The role will also lead, develop and manage the procedures, application and reporting of the performance services for the Scottish FA, ensuring a standardised set of working procedures are in place across all the performance service areas such as performance operations, performance analysis, performance data, sports medicine, sports science and talent identification.
We are looking for an individual with extensive experience of leading a high performing team in elite sports and a proven track record of working with elite athletes and coaches in establishing high performance cultures. In possession of a relevant degree, the applicant must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, so to be able to develop strong relationships and build effective teams. Key Responsibilities
• Develop, lead and manage the standardised working procedures for the performance services (performance operations, performance analysis, performance data, sports medicine, sports science and talent ID) across the international teams and optimise the output in each area through the leadership and management of the staff involved.
• Lead and maintain a high-performance culture across all national teams by working closely with relevant staff and coaches.
• To ensure ongoing improvement, plan and review all performance functions on camps across all squads through your direct reports.
• Oversee the output of the two advisory groups' (1. Science and Medicine Advisory Group 2. Analysis and Data Advisory Group) work that will enable the guidance and delivery of the specific performance strategies for National Teams and Club football in Scotland.
• Develop and evolve a national teams specific performance strategy across all squads that will enable a high-performance environment.
• Influence department strategy through close collaboration with the Chief Football Officer for all performance functions with specific focus given to elite player development programmes.
• Provide regular updates and reports for board, PGB and other key stakeholders.
• Lead and manage Scottish FA teams across all performance service areas creating a culturally unified environment which fosters people success and work closely with the Finance Department to ensure budgets are closely managed.
• Manage the roles and responsibilities of all national team performance functions liaising with the relevant staff and Head Coaches to ensure they are aware of and understand the requirements for the teams.
• Ensure the delivery of a high-performance culture on all camps through the functions in place and establishing relevant education and development plans for staff involved.
• Support the Chief Football Officer for performance department culture, long term business planning, development, departmental staffing, and succession planning.
• Work internally and externally to develop elite players programmes which are bespoke and individualised.
• Support the continued education and development of club staff in performance areas through knowledge exchange activities.
• Support the development and implementation of wider education programmes and resources through performance staff expertise.
• Support ongoing research and development opportunities to ensure knowledge of best practice and to further ensure programme and process improvement.
Any other reasonable tasks as required and as directed by the Chief Football Officer
