Your Mission:

As ClearBank continues it's expansion, we are seeking a new Head of Commercial Finance for the Group.

Reporting to the Group CFO, the Head of Commercial Finance will be responsible for driving forward key commercial priorities across the Bank, building relationships and tracking process to hold key accountable executives to account for delivery

They will also act as a strategic business partner to executive team and be instrumental in helping ClearBank achieve its financial goals. Excellent commercial awareness will be very important, along with the ability to maintain excellent financial rigour.

This includes:

  • Acting as a key strategic partner to Group CFO and wider executive team in delivery of commercial priorities, including improvement of business efficiency and performance, location strategy, business optimisation and scaling program, cost management and others.
  • Driving performance and effectively challenge the executive team and business heads through regular engagement and ownership of quarterly business review (QBR) process.
  • Being part of the Finance & Treasury leadership team, assuming a wider remit in the leadership and development of the function.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversight of FP&A, helping to drive the annual budgeting and forecasting process, providing critical insights into financial planning and resource allocation
  • Performance Analysis: Analyse financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to improve efficiency and profitability
  • Finance Business Partnering: Partner with business units to evaluate and support commercial decisions, pricing strategies, prioritisation of investment and product development from a financial perspective.
  • Business optimisation programme: Responsibility for business optimization, with the aim of building out a programme of automation and operating model improvements to improve the scalability of the business to meet the demands as we grow.
  • Cost Management: Implement cost control measures while maintaining operational excellence
  • Development of financial and non-financial reporting to track progress in achieving commercial priorities

What we're looking for:

  • Qualified accountant or equivalent with experience in commercial finance roles, ideally with start-ups and / or high-growth organisations
  • Previous regulated Bank/Insurance company experience
  • An excellent communicator who is able to instill confidence in executives and stakeholders
  • Agility, with capacity to handle change and steer a company's financial management through a fast-evolving and often disruptive business environment
  • A "Can-Do" attitude, able to enthuse and build confidence about the company and its outlook among colleagues, board and external parties
  • Experience of operating within a matrix reporting environment, building relationships and influence to achieve desired outcomes
  • Able to challenge management and executive to deliver higher performance in both revenue as well as cost management, working collegiately with peers to deliver better results
  • A curious, questioning mindset and the ability to develop strategic insights from financial data
  • Excellent situation-awareness, able to read and respond to ambiguous situations
  • A team player, with a passion for success who brings out the best in her/his colleagues both within the finance function and across the organisation as a whole.
  • Able to blend the role of a technical expert with a financial focus and being a collaborative partner with a strategic focus
  • Capable of managing and dealing with high growth markets and environments

Our hiring process and what you can expect:

Application: a member of our talent acquisition team will review your application against the key requirements for the role and let you know within two weeks whether you're moving forward to the next stage;

Screening: You'll spend 30-45 minutes speaking to one of our recruiters learning more about the role and ClearBank, and we'll get it know more about you, your experience and how your skills align with the role (this will be via phone or Teams video call). You can expect to hear back from us within seven days following this meeting (if things are taking longer than expected, we'll let you know that too);

First Interview: You'll spend one hour with a member of our hiring team focusing on your skills, competencies and your ways of working at the same time we'll give you time to ask more questions about the role, the team and learn more about the ClearBank culture. This will be via Teams.

Second Interview: This will be a competency-based interview with one or more members of our team.

Final Stage: You will have a final meeting with the Head of Department. This will be around 45-60 minutes.
