We are looking for an innovative, ambitious leader with a history of delivering results, developing a team and has a high growth mindset to join the dynamic 'New Business' super squad. You'll be the centre of making all things new and high growth happen

This is a new squad with huge expectations - it's about creating new value and growth for Currys through inspiring and educating customers and colleagues about the latest and greatest on trend new tech, embedding these new categories and selling models into our business across all functions.

Positioned within this super squad, the Head of Category is a senior leadership role which accountable for all aspects of category performance, acting as the business thought leader for your squad, galvanising your team and supporting functions to develop and deliver the strongest strategy and plans to maximise both customer satisfaction and EBIT. You will deeply understand customers and competitors within your category and contribute heavily to successful delivery of the company vision and strategy, driving through leadership a growth and innovation mentality to ensure we stay well ahead of competitors.

A role of this magnitude requires you to directly manage a buying team and indirectly manage other areas of the business to deliver the category strategy, so our ideal candidate will have extensive management/leadership experience in order to drive a fully capable and committed team who understand their role in delivering the company vision 'we help everyone enjoy amazing technology'.

Role overview:

As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:.
• Leading and owning development of the category strategy, in accordance with company defined guiderails for customer promises and financial deliverables. Ensures a balanced delivery of KPIs across colleague and customer satisfaction, and financial metrics.
• Fully owning the performance of the squad, anticipating risk and opportunity, decisively resolving issues and setting a framework to enable self sufficiency
• Leading and developing the squad to engender a culture of collaborative working, rounded thinking and support.
• Driveing a mentality of growth within the squad, seeking opportunities to exceed KPIs and gain further competitive advantage.
• Deeply understanding the end of end profitability of the category and the levers available to maximise EBIT return. Working closely with finance and within the squad to identify opportunities
• Developing and leading a robust supplier strategy
• Obsessesing about customer experience through all elements of their shopping journey within the category. Insisting on the use of insight and data in making robust decisions regarding the customer journey & proposition and works tightly with all customer facing channels to deliver excellently.
• Leading by example you will ensure that the team live and breathe our values to drive improvement.
• Builds effective recruitment, development and succession plans to support the talent pipeline, respecting and embracing diversity within the team.

You will need:
• High level of operational performance management experience
• High level of experience in end-to-end customer experience & journeys.
• High level of planning and organizational capability.
• Experience in creating a strategy and adding value by building on an existing strategy.
• Strong skills and ability to manage all 3rd Party partners at differing levels of seniority.
• Strong judgment and decision-making skills to enable the right initiatives for the squad.
• Experience in reviewing, agreeing & managing 3rd party client and vendor service level contracts.
