Job Description

The Landscape Director leads a multi-disciplinary team of 25-30 to deliver world-class projects across the UK and overseas, that exceed clients' expectations and achieve optimum financial results. Alongside a primary remit to further grow the client base, this role will also develop and implement a strategy to elevate design quality and creativity, building the capability of our technical team in EMEA.

Key Responsibilities

Financial and Business Performance

  • Achieve personal financial performance objectives
  • Maintain good financial disciplines personally and monitor and manage the same for the team
  • Create project plans, costings and fee structures for client work
  • Monitor and take action on client debt
  • Monitor and take any necessary action on internal cost controls

People Management, Leadership and Team Development

  • Act as a leader, role-modelling the values of the business and setting an example in terms of work ethic and personal conduct
  • Create, organise and energise high performing teams, encouraging individuals to push the boundaries of their own team roles
  • Manage and delegate work to teams and individuals at the right level to deliver projects profitably
  • Develop the skills and abilities of the team and contribute to the development of staff in the wider business through coaching and mentoring
  • Support peers through collegiate working

Business Development

  • Develop and implement marketing plans to support our strategy
  • Contribute to building our future, targeting appropriate clients and work and developing the client base to become and remain sustainable
  • Act as a brand ambassador, cross-selling and introducing clients and referrals to colleagues
  • Build own personal network and profile in the sector

Client Relationship Management

  • Deliver excellent service to clients, working to understand their needs and expectations and managing these appropriately
  • Effectively build, develop and maintain strong client relationships, working to produce creative and innovative client solutions

Design Excellence

  • Drive innovative and creative design excellence in own work and others
  • Collaborate to further develop our roles and processes, developing and executing upon a strategy to raise team design capabilities
  • Implement new design technology and resources in a timely manner to enhance design work

Contribution to the organisation

  • Contribute to the building of the organisation's intellectual property
  • Take responsibility for efficient use of the organisation resources in undertaking projects
  • Comply with policies and procedures, statutory and regulatory requirements

  • Acquire new skills and expertise valuable to you and the business
  • Show initiative and drive, challenging yourself to work outside comfort zones
  • Maintain professional standards and meet professional body requirements

About You

Skills & Experience Required

  • Has worked in an international design firm servicing global clients
  • Has experience of successfully leading and managing a team across large mixed use projects
  • Has a proactive approach to client management, with a proven track record of engaging potential clients and winning significant work
  • Commercially astute, demonstrated through decision making, project negotiation, pricing and management
  • Strong organisational and people management skills, encouraging collaboration and innovation within the teams to maximise performance
  • Ability to travel
  • Possess proficiency with computer applications commonly used within the individual's discipline
  • Degree in related design field or equivalent certification
