Category Manager (Procurement)

This is an exciting opportunity for a Category Manager to join our Procurement directorate within YTL Construction UK. The Procurement Directorate supports YTL Business Units within the UK including Wessex Water. You will ideally have had prior experience working within the Utilities, Construction, or Water Sector and have managed agreements and spending linked to capital equipment.
What you'll do

As a Category Manager, you will enjoy working with your stakeholders to identify the best way to deliver value. You will look to understand the market, identify opportunities to aggregate spend and your categories, and develop new sourcing opportunities. Working at an experienced level, you will ensure that all procurement activity and agreements are designed and implemented to deliver the best value to the company.

You will liaise with the relevant internal departments as well as externally with our growing supply base.
What you'll need

You will be degree qualified or have extensive equivalent working experience in the field of category management. In addition, you will be MICPS accredited or hold an equivalent accreditation.

You will have worked in a civil engineering, utilities, or a heavy industry environment, with prior experience in purchasing equipment and critical assets, predominantly for water supply and treatment plants, as well as other capital schemes.

Other skills and experience required to undertake this role include:

  • strong commercial and negotiation skills
  • tendering and framework management experience
  • stakeholder management and communication skills
  • the ability to operate both independently, as well as working collaboratively as part of a team
  • working knowledge of a range of contract types
  • working knowledge of eSourcing systems.
