We proudly manage the NHS Supply Chain: Food Procurement service, ensuring value, quality, and security of supply across the NHS.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Category Manager to join our growing team. Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you'll lead a team of buyers and take ownership of two transacted frameworks, driving strategic sourcing, supplier performance, and continuous improvement that directly impacts NHS Trusts nationwide.
What you'll be doing
- Lead, inspire and develop a team of 2 Buyers and 1 Junior Buyer to deliver savings, growth, and category performance.
- Drive procurement and supplier management strategies that maximise value and support NHS Trust needs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Account Management, Operations, Finance, and Data teams to deliver KPIs.
- Develop and execute category plans to support client objectives and grow market share.
- Deliver outstanding stakeholder engagement and champion Foodbuy's value proposition within the NHS Supply Chain.
- Promote best practice in procurement, supplier collaboration, and continuous improvement across the function.
About you
We're looking for someone who combines strong commercial acumen with a collaborative, ethical approach. You'll be confident managing complex frameworks, leading people, and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
You'll bring:
- Proven experience in category management or procurement, ideally within food, retail, or public sector environments.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- A proactive, results-driven mindset, with the ability to deliver under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across diverse teams and suppliers.
- Leadership capability to motivate, coach and develop a high-performing team.
- Understanding of PA23 regulations and public procurement (desirable).
