Main duties of the job

Barnet Emergency Department is looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Band 7 Emergency Department Nurse. The post holder will be responsible for the supervision of nursing and support staff on a shift basis, as well as being in charge of the department, ensuring quality and safety, high standards of patients care and ensuring patient flow throughout the department. You will also lead a team of nurses and take responsibility for quality and safety initiatives in ED. This post will be based in the Emergency Department Barnet hospital. The Urgent Care Division comprises of the Emergency Department (ED) Adult Assessment Unit (AAU) Children's Emergency Department and Urgent Treatment Centre all co-located to ED. Our ED is a Trauma Unit with 8 resus bays including designated cubicles for children and trauma You will be supported by 2.5 Matrons and Team of 3 Practice facilitators who support training for all staff across the ED. We also employ children's and Adult ACPs and actively encourage staff development through ACP training for experienced ED staff. We have strong links to a number of educational establishments and run two University Accredited Emergency Nursing courses in the department with all junior nursing staff being placed on a course with in the first 6 to 9 months of starting in the Emergency Department. We have an active research profile as a department, led by our clinical Lead.
